InterCity keeps you informed by fetching population and founding dates from Wikipedia as you move between cities, even if the app is in the background. The pushpins on the map also shows a nice history of your route. This app uses non-GPS location services so it only minimally affects your battery. You can turn tracking off in the app to completely disable background processing. Note that an internet connection is required, so if you own an iPod Touch it will only work when there is a WiFi connection. Also, it'll work in the air but only if your plane has WiFi. ** Don't be an idiot -- keep your eyes on the road if you're driving! **
